Helena Hajicharalampous

She obtained a Degree in Biology (1987) and a PhD Degree (1996) from the Department of Biology, University of Athens. She is working at the Greek Biotope / Wetland Centre since 1998. Since 2001 she is the Head of the Biotic Resources Section. She has extensive experience in the subject areas of the Community Directives 92/43/EEC, 2009/147/EC and the Natura 2000 Network, biodiversity conservation and monitoring, management and monitoring planning of protected areas. Among others, she has participated in the elaboration of specifications for the designation and delineation of Special Protection Areas (SPA) in Greece, in drafting guidelines for the preparation of Management Plans of the Natura 2000 Sites in Greece and Cyprus, in the  elaboration of Management Plans and Monitoring Programs for the Natura 2000 sites in Greece and Cyprus, in supporting the Greek Ministry of Environment with regard to the Natura 2000 network and biodiversity (e.g. participation in the Natura 2000 inventory project, contribution to the update of the national Natura 2000 database, national reports on the implementation of Community Directives 92/43 / EEC, 2009/147 / EC and the Convention on Biological Diversity, personnel education and training).
